Within the framework of the “Year Russia-Netherlands 2013”
The sculptor and artist Florentijn Hofman (1977, Delfzijl, the Netherlands) came to prominence thanks to his impressive, gigantic sculptures mounted in public spaces – images of animals or ready-made everyday items. One of the Hofman’s most famous projects is a very large rubber duck which has been travelling the world since 2007 and has already visited São Paulo, Osaka, Hong-Kong, Aukland and other cities. Hofman also created various animals made of cardboard, hay, rubber and metal in the Netherlands, Mexico, Sweeden, France, Japan, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland and other countries.
Project is organized by the North-West Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Arts and the St Petersburg PRO ARTE Foundation, supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Russian Federation and Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation.
