Dostoevsky. On the Threshold
Authors build the plot for this project over Dostoevsky memorial apartment. The project consists of two parts: the first is an audio-guide based on the writer’s prophetic texts. The tour takes place outside the museum and covers nearby streets according to the route laid out on a special map. The audio part of the tour is a complex radio drama, where voices of actors reading out Dostoevsky’s texts mingle with real street sounds (cries of vendors, old women, petty gangsters, drunkards and people who just happened to be passing by). Project’s second part is a video based on the interviews with people of varied backgrounds and occupations: museum visitors, museum attendants, those who got there by pure chance. They talk of Dostoevsky using all kinds of clichés, myths and anecdots. Thus we draw a specific “stereoscopic” effect: literature represented in the street and “street” (in the writer’s clichéd grassroots meaning) reflected in the museum helping the audience realize Dostoevsky phenomenon in today’s world.
