Irene Janze (1956)
Before becoming an artist Irene Janze first studied Geology (1974-1982) and Philosophy of Social Politics (1986-1992) at the University of Amsterdam. From 1993-1998 she studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. In 1995 she studied video, performance and installation at the Chicago School of the Arts Institute, United States. In the Netherlands she presented her works and projects at, amongst others, the renowned International Institute of Social History Amsterdam (2002), Witte de With Art Centre in Rotterdam (2003), Artis Den Bosch (2004) and the Central Library The Hague (2004).
On her art and on her theories on scale, time and movement in public space she gave lectures for the Dutch Association for Aesthetics, which are published in the scholarly Journal of Aesthetics of the Netherlands 2004.
