Monster

Monster (dv/dvd, 2004) is a self portrait which reveals the negative side of the feminine ideal - not fulfilling the expectations, i.e. behaving badly. The feminine form loses its shape in a seemingly violent movement, a simple shaking of the head. As the image slows down the camera grasps hold of what tries to defy it. The monster is captured, but something unstable and unknown keeps haunting the picture, between the ideal and its opposite. Monster is about getting older, behaving badly, looking good, feeling (no) shame.
