CONTEMPORARY ART IN TRADITIONAL MUSEUM

Annual Festival

CONTEMPORARY ART IN TRADITIONAL MUSEUM
is an annual festival of contemporary art that has become the most significant and well known project of The PRO ARTE Foundation.

The festival is a series of exhibitions that take place in large and smaller museums of Saint Petersburg throughout a month.

Artistic projects to become part of the festival are selected on the basis of a grant competition. The competition jury includes members of the advisory council of The PRO ARTE Foundation as well as independent experts.

The main goal of the festival is to assist in rapprochement of traditional culture and contemporary art and bring forth modernization of Petersburg museums.

Apart from Petersburg artists there are also artists from other regions of Russia as well as international artists that take part in the festival.

During the festival free mini-buses take visitors from one museum to the other.

The project was launched in the year of 2000, since then there have been almost 100 projects carried out in more than 50 museums of Saint Petersburg.

Foreigners are welcome to participate in the festival, but application form must be filled in Russian.
