LITTLE THINGS
Seventh Exhibition of the Thingies Cycle: MUSICAL CASKETS

Pro Art Institute Exhibition Hall
Nevsky Courtine, Peter and Paul Fortress
1--28 April 2005

The theme of the Musical Caskets exhibition is mechanisms in music. The exhibits include musical boxes from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, portable gramophones from the 1930s and old records. Works from the collection of the Museum of the History of St Petersburg are supplemented by the “mechanisms” of contemporary artists -- Yury Didevich and Dmitry Dubov’s Pandora Box interactive electric-mechanical installation, Rostan Tavasiev’s Casket and Kirill Shuvalov’s Pioneer installation.
The exhibition is accompanied by a series of lectures read by Vladimir Syrov, senior curator of science and technical equipment, Museum of the History of St Petersburg.

Open daily from 11 am to 5 pm except Sundays and public holidays.
